Description:

Firewall Engineer – Northern Virginia

Job Description:
Provide engineering support for implementing the strategic architecture of networks; provide network design and implementation direction; provide expert engineering in support of problem resolution; support product evaluation and integration; network hardware and software/system testing; strategic planning; and emerging technology investigation.
Provide technical insight and assist in planning, investigating, testing, implementing, presenting technical seminars, and training personnel on emerging technology, new telecommunications products, network architectures and designs, and product and system evaluation and integration.
Recommend, develop, monitor, direct, and perform project engineering support activities.

Responsibilities:
 analysis; engineering reports and documentation; design’ Interface Control Documents (ICD) development; conducting Design Reviews; resource scheduling; and providing input and approval of the standard Bill of Materials (BOM), which will be maintained by the Contractor.
Provide expert engineering advice and assistance up to the Tier 3 level support for network and/or system problem resolution.
Activate firewall infrastructure in accordance with approved customer and industry standards, and COMSEC/INFOSEC requirements.
Conduct end-to-end (channel) and interface testing per industry and customer standards. This includes the interconnection of communications equipment, programming and testing of equipment functionality, and system testing to assure that the network functions as designed.
Participate in equipment setup and completing infancy testing when required for a project.
Assist team members in preparing for installation and activation and the appropriate testing to assure compliance with design and equipment manufacturers specifications.
Support the IT systems after activation until accepted by O&M organization.
Act in a technical advisory role to implement existing standards and procedures as well as to make recommendations for new standards or procedures as needed to be vetted through the customer board approval process.

Occasional travel to domestic and foreign locations, as required, to support individual component tasking. Travel will be occasional and generally will be no more than a few weeks in duration.

Skill Requirements:
Appropriate degree in computer science or electrical, computer, or communications engineering or related equivalent experience in the telecommunications field

Video/Video Teleconferencing (VTC) Engineer – Northern Virginia

Job Description:
The VTC Engineer will analyze customer requirements and determine the best technical solution with specifications of video components and system integration techniques to satisfy the requirements for complex design and technology activities. These activities consist of video distribution and teleconferencing design and test efforts. This position will involve detailed knowledge of video technology (video generation, distribution, and display) and current ANSI/IEEE format knowledge for both analog and digital systems, and their deployment (broadband cable, NTSC or HDTV baseband, ISDN, etc.) to customer premises. This position requires the execution of good engineering practices that detail the overall system architecture, detailed line (with breakdown of signal and test point values) and rack elevation drawings, and to/from cable list.
Qualifications:
BSEE with 5 – 7 years of detailed engineering experience. MSEE with 3 – 5 years of detailed engineering experience (preferred).
Experience:
10 – 15 years detailed engineering experience in lieu of degree.
